Public Health Nurses: Who are they? What do they do? How do they fit in health care reform?

Meeting Description:

In 2013, the findings of the 2012 Public Health Nurse Workforce Surveys were released.   85% of public health nurses would recommend working in public health to new graduates. In Arizona public health nurses reported having significant need for educational and professional development opportunities as only 34% have a BSNs or higher degree.
 
Join us for this webinar co-sponsored by the Arizona Public Health Association and the Arizona Nurses Association to learn more about the survey results of Public Health Nurses nationally and in Arizona as well as implications for health care reform.

Learning Objectives: At the completion of the webinar, the participants will be able to:
  • Describe two key characteristics of the current public health nurse in Arizona.
  • Identify potential strategic local, state and national partnerships to that could be developed to promote leadership opportunities for PHNs.
  • Describe three strategies to increase PHN engagement in the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action and support attainment of BSN degrees by PHNs.

1.0 contact hour will be awarded to nurses who register and successfully complete this activity.
